National Printing Company Deactivation & Press Line Recovery

Facility: Printing & Packaging Plant
Scope: Decommissioning, Asset Recovery & Site Preparation
Coverage: Multi-State Facilities (500,000+ SF Total)

Scope of Work

MIWEC decommissioned and removed printing press systems, folding lines, and packaging systems across multiple large-scale production plants. Rigging, hauling, and relocation of assets were coordinated between facilities.

Utility mapping, engineering support, and permitting were executed during active operations. Confined space work, selective demolition, and ink system drainage were conducted in accordance with regulatory and safety standards. Final site sanitation and OSHA-compliant protocols were implemented throughout.

Challenges & Solutions

📦 Challenge:
Multi-ton rotary press sections required low-clearance rigging and confined handling.
✅ Solution:
Specialized gantries and skid platforms used to maneuver assets safely to docks.

🚛 Challenge:
Logistics coordination across multiple states with tight turnarounds.
✅ Solution:
Zone-based tracking and phased trailer loadouts managed across facilities.

⚠️ Challenge:
Ink system shutdown and environmental tie-ins across facilities.
✅ Solution:
Drainage, disposal, and sealing executed under applicable state environmental codes.

Timeline & Execution

Project completed in phases over a 6-week period across three major printing plants. Press systems were sorted for reuse, resale, and certified recycling. All activities were completed safely and on deadline.
